LAST MONTH AT GAMBLE
There’s always something special happening at Gamble! Here is a look back at some highlights over the last month. Remember to check the Events Calendar on the Gamble web page to make sure you don’t miss a thing.
Succulent Pumpkin Workshop
The Carriage House was bursting with the colors of fall as students glued succulents, berries, seeds, and other materials onto pumpkins of every shape and size. Instructor Kathy Coutré shared tips for keeping the succulent pumpkins fresh and vibrant throughout the season.
October Second Saturday
There were smiles all around the garden at October Second Saturday. Tour guides highlighted plants from the nightshade family as they toured visitors around the garden. Tour guides showed visitors nightshade family of plants. Families gathered on the Carriage House patio for crafts and discovery stations, then flocked to the Tea House where they sampled treats from the Edible Garden.
Halloween Children’s Party
Everyone had a frightfully fun time at Gamble’s Children’s Halloween event, held the day before Halloween. Little ghosts and goblins went trick-or-treating around the gardens, posed for photos in the beautiful fall foliage, enjoyed spooky treats, and met a live eagle from the Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo.
Harmony Music Ensemble Concert
Music lovers filled the Tea House for last month’s Cinematic Classics concert by the Harmony Music Ensemble. Eight young classical musicians performed a dozen pieces including cinematic favorites from movies such as La La Land, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, as well as Broadway hits from Les Miserables, and Beauty and the Beast.
Halloween Night at Gamble Garden
Gamble opened its doors to trick-or-treaters on Halloween Eve for the first time. Jack-o-lanterns and pumpkins lined the driveway, while the Main House porch was decorated with Halloween-themed floral arrangements and life-sized animatronic monsters. Hoards of little ghosts and goblins came to Gamble and chose between candy or flowers. Kudos to the staff for organizing such a frightfully fun event and introducing a whole new generation to Gamble Garden.
